Char Dham Yatra 2023 : Char Dham Yatra has great importance in our Hindu i.e. Sanatan Dharma. There are two types of Char Dham Yatra in Hinduism. One Yatra Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Yatra The second Char Dham Yatra was started by the great Hindu philosopher and reformer Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century to propagate and revive Hinduism. Char Dham Yatra is considered very auspicious in Vedas and Puranas. It is believed that the person who travels to Char Dham gets freedom from all sins.

This journey is mostly completed by walking. Walking is not only good for our health but also increases our age. The Himalayas receive heavy snowfall in winters and it is not easy for a common traveler to reach them during these seasons. There is a local tradition in these regions to close the temples for six months of winter due to inaccessibility. The Char Dham temples of Uttarakhand are inaugurated in the month of April on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.

Yamunotri Dham

The doors of Yamunotri Dham, the first major pilgrimage among the Char Dhams, have opened on April 22, 2023 at 12:41 pm. These doors open in Abhijeet Muhurt. This Dham is one of the main Yamunotri Dham among the first Char Dham. This Dham is dedicated to Yamuna Devi Temple. It is also known as the origin of Yamuna river. But if seen, the source of Yamuna river is Champasar which is located at the foothills of Kalind mountain. This temple is situated at an altitude of 3,291 meters above sea level. Gangotri Dham

Gangotri comes second in Char Dham. On April 22, 2023, the doors of Gangotri Dham have opened at 12:35 pm. Sahastranam Ganga Lahari is recited before the doors of Gangotri Dham are opened. The original source of the river Ganges is Gaumukh in the Gangotri Glacier. This pilgrimage site is also situated at an astonishing altitude of 3,100 meters in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. According to Hindu mythology, Gangotri Dham is the place where the river Ganga descended from heaven when Lord Shiva released her from his locks.
